This idea was really cool to me, finally a way to let the kids play their fave songs.
So I started down this path and the box has taken a few forms and loved in every stage.
Here’s the original place I found it:
- https://brainstormidsupply.com/id-card-printing-layout-tool.html
So I ordered all the things. Followed the instructions and made my own interface and cards.

I also decided to connect it to Home Assistant so the link to that is here:
Home Assistant Community – Magic Cards
It eventually got moved directly into Home Assistant in the form of NFC cards so I spun down the Magic-Cards system and just built it directly into my Home Assistant setup. This was much easier to manage as my system was already connected to SONOS.
Next was Making it LOok BetTer. Which I did with Avery Labels and Legos. That old Combo.

I built a Lego boombox you could open up to put all the hardware in, with a place to display a card at the top. SLICK. And finally I made a little Lego Box for the cards
